THE SCULPTURES
Expressing the multiplicities of the soul
The entire park is graced by a significant number of works that create an eclectic and multifaceted collection. The sculptures and statues are an expression of the many elements that coexist in every human being, while reflecting the diverse identities of the site and the profound interiority that inspired its transformation.
As we discover the works one by one, we move through the classical period and find figures from ancient mythology. As if retracing the history of humanity, Sardinia, and our own personal story through time, we encounter large-scale works by renowned figures from the island’s sculptural tradition alongside those of contemporary sculptors. The best-known artist of them all is perhaps Franceso Ciusa from Nuoro.
Some of the copies in the park were specifically created to enhance the artistic heritage of the area, based on the originals collected by Francesco Morelli.
The statues that line the park’s paths and roads, in particular. were created by the sculptor, Efisio Pisano, from Villacidro, who passed away in 2012. His works are dedicated to portraying female physicality, a central theme for the sculptor and poet who condensed the experiences and stimuli, acquired during a lifetime spent travelling the world, into his work.
